Book: “Stonewall: Breaking Out in the Fight for Gay Rights”
Author: Ann Bausum
Genre: Non-Fiction, Young Adult
About: This book is a good introduction to what happened at the Stonewall bar on Christopher Street in the summer of 1969. Although, It’s written for a teenage audience, audiences of all ages will find it informative.
From a queer perspective, I think that a lot of key players in the riots were left out and I would have liked to read about them, not just Craig Rodwell. Also, it felt like the story was so textbook-like that I can tell that the author is straight and not apart of the queer community.
